Beer for a good cause. What could be a better reason to drink? (As if you even needed a reason…)
Wynkoop Brewing Company’s Cottonwood Organic White
We stopped by Wynkoop Brewing Company this week to try their new release, Cottonwood Organic White beer. A portion of each sale goes to the Cottonwood Institute, a nonprofit group that says they are “on a mission to connect diverse students to the outdoors and empowers them to take action to improve their schools, the community, and the environment for future generations.”
While we liked the cause, what about the beer?
Tasting Cottonwood Organic White
Our group of four was pretty divided on this brew. Wynkoop Brewing Company’s Cottonwood Organic White is an unfiltered wheat that infused kaffir lime leaf. This was a whole new style for all four members of our group, and the reviews were mixed. I liked the beer and enjoyed the delicate citrus finish, and actually ordered a second pint. My pal Jessica thought it was okay; saying it was drinkable, but not necessarily something she’d crave enough to try again.
The two fellas in our group, Jeff and Shawn, did not like this brew at all. They love the hoppy brews and this one was just not hopped up enough for them. One of them actually found the aroma offensive, which none of the rest of us got at all. It just goes to show you how different each person’s tastes and smell preferences are. With the same beer, we all came away with something totally different.
What Will You Think?
Because not every beer is for everyone, so you may love or hate this one. If you get to Wynkoop Brewing Company while this is on tap, give it a taste and see where you fall on this debate. Hey, even if you don’t love it, at least you’ll be supporting a good cause.
