We may not have made visits to any breweries this past week, but we did still manage to fit in a few good beers. Saturday night was spent in Jessica and Shawn’s backyard for some burgers, backyard games, and of course, a few beers. Jeff got there early and helped ShawnyB brew up a batch of Strawberry Beer. It looks like it’s going to be a delicious brew, ready just in time for the tail end of summer. We brought a few of our own Pale Ale homebrews, but complimented them with a few 6-packs of good craft beers: Lagunitas A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale and Deschutes Twilight Summer Ale. Both beers were new-to-us, and both were perfect for a day hanging out in the backyard with friends.
Sunday was spent listing to our friend and fellow Colorado Parrothead Brian Wunderlich play a set at Big Hoss BBQ. PBRs are cheap as hell as Big Hoss, so it was the drink du jour as we listened to the music and cheered on the USA in the Olympics.
Finally, Thursday was IPA Day. There were lots of fun IPA Day events all over town, but we had other plans since our kickball league plays on Thursdays. To celebrate both we filled our cooler with a one of our favorite IPA’s, Ska Brewing’s Modus Hoperandi. Thank goodness that this canned beer movement gives us canned options beyond the typical PBR and Silver Bullet because our kickball park doesn’t allow glass bottles. We ended up losing our game by a point but had such a great time it didn’t really matter. Post-game celebrations are always at C.B. & Potts, and there we toasted a good effort with one more IPA, the Big Red Ale, just for good measure.
We hope you had a great week and celebrated IPA day appropriately as well!
Cheers!
