TGIF! It’s finally Friday, and what better way to celebrate than with a firkin and a fundraiser?
We started our Friday happy hour at Great Divide, where they had a firkin of Sticky Icky, a pale ale that has been “wet hopped” with some fresh local hops. Call me a sucker for a firkin, but when I heard about this beer we had to try it. The fresh hops gave it a nice citrusy, natural flavor that we both really enjoyed. Though for round two we went for other Great Divide favorites – the Rumble IPA for Jeff, and the Hoss for me. After a few rounds, we definitely felt ready for the weekend.
Next stop was Breckenridge Brewery’s ballpark pub, where we stopped by to show our support for a good cause. There was a fundraiser benefiting Skate for Prostate – a 395 mile skate across Colorado being done by Keith Wegen. Keith is a prostate cancer survivor himself and his cross-state skate is to help raise money and awareness for a disease that can be deadly if not detected early. We had beers a’plenty, including my first Autumn Ale of the season, and rubbed elbows with some really nice folks. In fact, Nuggets coach George Karl attended and spoke on behalf of the cause as another survivor. It was a wonderful night filled with fun and purpose.

Until next time, cheers!
