The Brew on Broadway, aka The BoB, is part coffee shop, part craft beer brewery, and has somehow found a way to perfectly meld these two environments into one great neighborhood hangout. We visited one Saturday afternoon and immediately felt at home in this Englewood drinking spot. We were here for the beer, so we skipped right past the coffee and headed straight for the bar. The space is large and comfortable with a big bar, lots of tables, and a huge outdoor patio that I can only imagine is the spot to be on a sunny summer afternoon. With a varied menu featuring nearly a dozen beers, we decided to stick with tasters so we could try a few different varieties. We selected the Tuileries IPA, Skerritt’s Russian Imperial Stout, Placer ESB, and Eaglerock Pale Ale. The names of these beers reference local Englewood history and history-makers, further driving home that this is a neighborhood spot.
Say Hello to BoB, the Brew on Broadway
The Tulleries IPA was very good, with the hops front and center in this light and crisp ale. The Placer ESB was a little sweet for our taste, with a heavy malt aroma that smelled almost like freshly boiled wort. The Eaglerock Pale Ale was delicious and nicely hopped. Finally, Skerritt’s Russian Imperial Stout was the most impressive pour — jet black with a creamy, chocolate-colored foamy head. It looked absolutely decadent and tasted as good as it looked. The flavor was pure espresso with a bold, clean chocolate finish. It was the perfect drink for a spot that focuses on coffee and beer, and we loved it.
The BoB is a wonderful addition to the South Broadway scene. It’s the perfect spot to hang out with friends and enjoy a nice beverage, whether you want something caffeinated or hopped. We adored the friendly staff and mellow vibe and would recommend anyone give them a visit. They don’t have food, but you can bring your own.
