We hope you are ready for the weekend because there is no lack of incredible events taking place over the next few days. Between the AHA Big Brew, Star Wars Day, the Kentucky Derby, and Cinco de Mayo, you can forget about doing anything productive this weekend, like lawn work or chores. Hoppy Happenings for May 4 & 5, 2019

AHA Big Brew Day

When: All day Saturday, May 4 with a simultaneous toast to occur at 1 pm ET
What: The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) is partnering with over 300 breweries, homebrew shops, and beer clubs for this annual Big Brew celebration. It’s the largest annual gathering of homebrewers, with an anticipated attendance of over 5000 people. With local breweries and clubs hosting events all day, each Big Brew site is unique, but all are encouraged to join in the simultaneous toast to one of the nation’s favorite hobbies at 1 pm ET.

Cervecería Colorado’s Cinco De Mayo First Anniversary Fiesta
Where: Cervecería Colorado, 1635 Platte St, Denver, Colorado 80202
When: Saturday, May 4 from 11 am to 8 pm
What: Join Cerveceria Colorado as they celebrate their 1st Anniversary celebración with Mexican games, Mexican food trucks, a tres leches cake, street corn, churros, pinata smashing, and more! They’ll be releasing a Specialty Señor Piña Colada Crowler and a Tequila Barrel Aged Imperial Poblano Pils Anniversary Cerveza, plus a limited edition “Bridges Not Walls” glass.
Epic Brewing Company’s Never Tell Me the Odds Derby Day Party

When: Saturday, May 4 from 12 pm to 11 pm
What: Celebrate horse racing, big hats, and The Force all while enjoying Epic’s new Sour NEIPA. Wear your best Kentucky Derby attire or your most exceptional Star Wars costume, and enter their photobooth photo contest to win one free growler a month for a year.

Atrevida One Year Anniversary Fiesta

What: Atrevida is throwing the “get down of all get downs” to celebrate their first year! With a rotation of over 15 beers on tap, including 6 “Viva La Mujer” series beers inspired by women who’ve had huge impacts on society. If you’re looking for pinatas, Jedi magic, Latin music, and great food, they’ll have all of that too, plus more surprises!
Dos Luces Cinco de Mayo Celebration & Imperial Puque Release

When: Saturday, May 4 from 12 pm to 10 pm; Sunday, May 5 from 12 pm to 9 pm
What: Celebrate the Victory at the Battle of Puebla with Dos Luces Brewery. Dos Luces will be celebrating the victory at the Battle of Puebla throughout the weekend of May 3-5, with pop-up food options courtesy of El Turkito Food Truck, music, and lots of Pulque to go around. Be sure to join them on Saturday for their second ever bottle release, an Imperial Puque. Moctezuma III will be released at noon and available on tap with a limited number of bottles available simultaneously (limit 2 bottles per person.)

South in Your Mouth
Where: Grist Brewing Company, 9150 Commerce Center Cir Suite 300, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80129
When: Saturday, May 4 from 12 pm to 6 pm
What: Grist is hosting the spring edition of South in Your Mouth, a celebration of craft beer in Denver’s south suburbs. Nearly a dozen breweries will be on hand to offer 22 special brews for this “Cuatro de Mayo with an intergalactic twist.” Star Wars costumes are encouraged! There will be music, food trucks, and tons of merrymaking.
City Star 7 Year Hootenanny

When: Saturday, May 4 from 12 pm to 10 pm
What: City Star is turning seven and they’re celebrating with live music all day, two food trucks, the launch of our deputy mug club program, beer releases, $10 commemorative t-shirts, a cupcake toast, and more. Plus, the first 50 social check-ins at the party using #CityStarIs7 can win a free beer!

May the Fourth Celebration at Wiley Roots

What: Join Wiley Roots for the return of their intergalactic celebration with special release beers, music, and a custom printed glass. Cosplay as your favorite character and enjoy two brewery-only special release beers (with limited cans available to go).

CO-Brew’s Cuatro de Mayo Fourth Anniversary

When: Saturday, May 4 from 2 pm to 5 pm
What: Party like it’s Cinco de Mayo for CO-Brew’s 4th Anniversary party. Enjoy beers from their employee beer competition, plus a nacho bar, pinatas, and the biggest sale of the year. Live music from The One and Only Jon Ham with special guides Will Brant starts at 2 pm.
Derby Day with Denver Union Station

When: Saturday, May 4 from 1 pm to 5 pm
What: Denver Union Station & Woodford Reserve are joining forces for an extravagant and grand Derby Day party. Featuring live viewings of the race, live music, and ‘best dressed’ competitions. The Churchill on Chestnut Party

When: Saturday, May 4 starting at 3 pm
What: Blue Moon is an official beer sponsor of the Kentucky Derby and they’re having a party to celebrate. Join them for the race followed by music all night long. Join them for special food options during the day, including a Tenderbelly Pulled Pork Sandwich bar, Little Man Ice Cream, and cookies from Good Sugar Baking. They’ll have a special BA Julep Beer Tapping, games, raffles, competitions for best dressed & best hat, and more.

Lone Tree’s Salsa & Guacamole Competition
Where: Lone Tree Brewing Company, 8222 Park Meadows Dr, Lone Tree, Colorado, 80124
When: Sunday, May 5 from 12 pm to 3 pm
What: For Cinco de Mayo, Lone Tree wants your best salsa and guac! Sign up for the competition or just show up for some tasting as they award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in both categories. Judging starts at 1 pm but the fiesta is in effect all day, with a tapping of a Strawberry Mexican Lager Margarita firkin at noon. North of the Border Grill will have a taco bar and be serving $2 tacos all day!
Sunday Funday: Cinco de Mayo Edition

When: Sunday, May 5 from 11 am to 11 pm
What: Since Cinco de Mayo falls on Sunday Funday this year, Avanti F&B is going all out! Stop by for tasty bites, including $3 tacos from BarraCho, who will be celebrating their 1st anniversary. Drink specials include $6 Casamigos Blanco all day, $3 Melvin Heyzeus all weekend, and a build-your-own Bloody Mary Bar at Wolf from 11 am – 2 pm.

Cinco de Cider

When: Sunday, May 5 from 1 pm to 5 pm
What: Join Colorado Cider Company as they kick off their summer hours & reopen on Sundays. Celebrate Cinco style with tacos and cider, with food provided by Estrella De Colima.
