Last week we spent a lazy Sunday afternoon north of downtown Denver searching for some fun and some great craft beer. Our first stop was at Broken Shovels Farm, which we wrote about last week. All that time hanging out with the barnyard animals made us thirsty, so after the farm, we decided to visit two craft breweries that we hadn’t previously visited: Creede Brewing Company and Beer By Design. Our first stop was to […]
The beer scene is booming in Fort Collins. In the past few days, two new breweries have opened their doors. Well, sort of. Brewery number one is new, and brewery number two is Three Four, who has been selling beer for a while, just not Three Four Beer beer. Confused? It’s simple really! Below is a quick preview of both new breweries. We hope to make the trek out to Fort Collins to visit them […]

One of the best things about living in central Colorado is that we can point the car in almost any direction, and find a fun day trip at a little city or town an hour or two away. So this past weekend that’s exactly what we did. We hadn’t been to Boulder in some time, so we directed our Jeep towards the Flatirons for a day of exploration. Boulder is a fun city with a whole personality […]
Last weekend we decided to escape the heat of the front range and head to the Colorado mountains. More specifically, we realized we hadn’t been to Estes Park in a while, and a sunny, summer day seemed like the perfect time for a quick road trip. Estes Park is a beautiful and bountiful mountain town, filled with shops, outdoor activities and three breweries – none of which we have visited yet. The plan was to spend a […]
Hi there… remember us? Yes, we were pretty absent over the holidays, when all the craziness of the season kept us from writing as often as we’d like. Fortunately, the start of 2016 has gotten us motivated to get back on the (or off?) the wagon. Today we’re kicking off the year with a recap of the first new (to us) brewery we visited in 2016: Odd13 Brewing Inc. in Lafayette, Colorado.
For those of you paying attention, it’s been a few weeks since we posted anything substantial on Bottle Makes Three. A variety of things have stood in the way of our writing. You can chalk a lot of it up to the typical “busy time of the year” excuse I make each fall because these last few months of each calendar year do get pretty stressful at work. But beyond that, I just have been […]
Dead Hippie Brewing quietly opened their doors and started serving pints last weekend. This newest neighborhood spot officially unlocked their doors on Thursday, October 22, and we stopped by their first Saturday to check them out. As luck would have it we even ran into a few of our own hippie friends, Rob and Stacy, which was an awesome surprise.
Walk down the beer coolers at your local beer store and you’re likely to see two things: lots of American adjunct lagers made by big-name breweries, and (hopefully) a large variety of craft ales from smaller, local craft beer brewers. For a long time, it seemed that was the way the beer coolers were divided: Mass-produced lagers for the light beer drinkers, and crafty ales for the more discriminating craft beer fans. Still, the focus […]
It’s ridiculous that it took us so long to get to CO-Brew. This homebrew shop and brewery has been open a few months, and they’re less than a block from my office. We literally drive past them every day on our commute home from work, yet we hadn’t stopped. One night after work we finally got a sign that we should stop in for a beer. This sign…
TGIF y’all! We don’t know about you, but we’re so ready to start this weekend. The cooler weather we experienced mid-week is a reminder that we’re only guaranteed a few more hot summer weekends, so it’s time to take advantage of them while we can. For us that means some hiking, spending some quality time in the backyard, and taking advantage of sitting on a sunny patio somewhere to enjoy some delicious craft beers.
