Technically speaking, Wild Blue Yonder Brewing Company is the youngest of our five Castle Rock craft breweries. But while they’ve been open for business only 4 months, the story behind this brewery is at least 5 years old. And while it’s taken years for the family behind Wild Blue Yonder to convert their dream of a brewery to reality, it only goes to proves the adage that good things come to those who wait.
When we met BURLY Brewing Company founder George Goodman in late 2017, he shared with us his dream for the brewery he planned to open in Castle Rock. His brewery would feature a large, comfortable gathering space, filled with natural woods and custom-made decor. There would be a stage for live music inside, a patio for enjoying the scenery outside, and a private room where small groups could gather. His brewhouse would be large enough […]
Castle Rock, Colorado may have more than 62,000 residents, but it’s the biggest little small town you’ll ever visit. Live here for a while and frequent our town restaurants, bars, and breweries, and eventually, you’ll realize you start to recognize all the faces. We didn’t know anyone in Castle Rock when we moved here in 2005. Over the years we’ve made countless friends and acquaintances. It means we (mostly) don’t go out looking as grungy […]
Today marks the beginning of Castle Rock Craft Beer Week, which takes place now through March 3. As proud Castle Rock residents we want to join the celebration of our local craft beer scene by shining a spotlight on our five Castle Rock craft breweries this week. We are kicking things off today with a look at the longest running brewpub in Douglas County: Rockyard Brewing Company.
Last week was a very good week for WeldWerks Truth be told, the last few years have gone pretty well for WeldWerks Brewing Company. Considering the success and name recognition that this Greeley-based brewery has achieved in just three years, they definitely don’t have anything to complain about. But even by those standards, last week was particularly awesome.
The wait is finally over. Thirsty Monk Denver opened their doors to the public yesterday. We are so happy to welcome them to our local craft beer scene! Thirsty Monk arrives in Denver with a strong reputation as a brewer of Belgian-Rooted Modern Ales and operator of world-recognized craft beer bars. Founded in 2008 in Asheville, North Carolina, they currently operate four locations in Asheville. More recently they expanded to add Portland, Oregon’s Bazi Bierbrasserie […]
If you’ve ever driven west on Interstate 70 from Denver to Evergreen, you’ve certainly seen the sign for El Rancho. We’ve certainly driven past it dozens of times. But if you’ve seen that sign and thought that El Rancho was just another small mountain town, boy do we have news for you. Located just off I-70 at Exit 251, El Rancho isn’t a town at all. El Rancho is a destination; a part of Colorado […]
Hellooo friends of Bottle Makes Three! Yes, it’s been a while. We know we’ve been bad beer bloggers. We took some time off around the holidays, not by choice really, but because we were just so busy. But today we’re back, and we are excited to say that we’re more energized than ever! We can’t wait to get back to sharing our beer adventures! In fact, we just visited a “new to us” brewery this weekend, Evergreen […]
Hey friends, are you as happy as we are that it’s the weekend? The past month has felt like “all work and no play” for your friends at Bottle Makes Three. We have both been pretty busy with the day jobs, but we’ve still managed to squeeze in a few adventures. For example, last weekend we escaped the daily grind long enough to squeeze in a quick trip to Durango for the Ska Anniversary Party. […]
On Saturday May 20, the Intrepid Sojourner Beer Project opened in the Denver Santa Fe Arts District. Owners Andrew Moore (formerly of 105 West Brewing Co) and Ben Gettinger had promised a brewery that would specialize in internationally inspired beers, and we would say they nailed it. Our visit to Intrepid Sojourner Beer Project We arrived at Intrepid Sojourner Beer Project on the afternoon of their grand opening. They were packed with thirsty craft beer lovers, ready […]
One of the best things about living in central Colorado is that we can point the car in almost any direction, and find a fun day trip at a little city or town an hour or two away. So this past weekend that’s exactly what we did. We hadn’t been to Boulder in some time, so we directed our Jeep towards the Flatirons for a day of exploration. Boulder is a fun city with a whole personality […]
