Warm weather is here, which in Denver really means just one thing: patio season! When the days are sunny and warm, we like drinks that are refreshing and cold. If the summer weather puts you in the sipping mood too, we have just the thing for you – the Passport Program Summer Edition. We attended the Denver Passport launch party recently and were given a copy of this year’s Denver Passport Summer Edition. It was […]
Happy February! This may be a short month, but it’s packed full of fun times. We get to spend a day paying attention to groundhogs, shower our true love with greeting cards and flowers, and we even get to celebrate the birth of one of your favorite Bottle Makes Three folks! But best of all, we also get to celebrate Stout Month! With big roasted malts and full bodies, February is the perfect month to indulge […]
Synergy (noun): A state in which two or more things work together in a particularly fruitful way that produces an effect greater than the sum of their individual effects. Expressed also as “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” It’s no surprise that most beer drinkers enjoy whiskey, and vice versa. A shot of whiskey with a beer chaser is such a common combo, it even has its own name: the Boilermaker. Like […]
Recently the fine folks at Jameson Irish Whiskey announced the newest partners in their Drinking Buddies program. As part of their Drinking Buddies collaboration, five American breweries were invited to tour the Jameson distillery in Ireland, and each were sent home with six empty Jameson Irish Whiskey barrels. The barrels would be used to age a unique, limited edition craft beer. Great Divide Brewing of Denver was one of this year’s Jameson Drinking Buddies participants. Head Brewer Ethan […]
On Tuesday, Jameson Irish Whiskey announced that they are expanding their collaboration program, Drinking Buddies, to include five American craft breweries. One of the collaborations we can expect to see is with Great Divide Brewing Co, who will be brewing The Smoothness, a dark lager aged in Jameson barrels. We’re really excited to try these Jameson-barrel aged beers, and to watch the video series that is going to document the story of each of the partner breweries participating in […]
Yesterday we went to the future site of Great Divide Brewing Co to celebrate for their 21st Anniversary. The new space is almost complete, with a full kegging and canning line already installed. This location will also serve as their barrel storage facility, and although they plan on keeping their current Arapahoe Street establishment open, eventually a full brew house and tasting room will be added at he new site, too. While the space isn’t quite done, they still […]
TGIF! It’s finally Friday, and what better way to celebrate than with a firkin and a fundraiser? We started our Friday happy hour at Great Divide, where they had a firkin of Sticky Icky, a pale ale that has been “wet hopped” with some fresh local hops. Call me a sucker for a firkin, but when I heard about this beer we had to try it. The fresh hops gave it a nice citrusy, natural […]
We weren’t planning on drinking away our Sunday afternoon. We went out to run a few errands and planned to spend the afternoon at home, getting ready for the week ahead. We had the best of intentions. But you know what? We have the best time when we just give up on our plans and go with the flow. It’s sort of a habit of ours, and that’s exactly what happened this particular Sunday.
