10 Ingredients for a Great Brewery Taproom

You may be shocked to hear this, but we have visited a lot of breweries. Like, a lot. Okay, so maybe the fact that we love beer and breweries isn’t exactly our best kept secret. But it could surprise you to know that we love visiting breweries for much more than just beer. Truth be told, we love the whole experience of visiting a great brewery taproom. We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, the fun people, and making […]

Happy Birthday to Me Part Deux @ New Belgium Brewing

Second stop on our Fort Collins birthday weekend tour:  New Belgium Brewing Company, baby!  We were supposed to be here for my birthday last year, but a blizzard kept us away.   We scheduled this tour months ago and thankfully, the weather was perfect this time around.  Score! Our tour guide was wonderful, but sadly though we asked her name a multitude of times, I still can’t remember it.  I think it was Lisa, so we’ll […]

Sunday Funday in Longmont at Pumphouse Brewery & Left Hand Brewing

After our G’Knight Ride, we spent the night in Longmont. Partially this was because we knew we’d be drinking and wanted to be responsible.  But it was also so we could fit in a few more brewery stops before we made the trek back home. It’s a good thing we stayed too, because someone left his debit card at the Tasty Weasel last night – DOH! Given that we now had a good excuse to […]

Lone Tree Brewing Brings Great Beers to the ‘Burbs

Our visit to Lone Tree Brewing Company was more about meeting up with friends than sampling all their beers, so we both stuck with one variety the whole night.  Jeff stuck with the Hoptree IPA, and I had the Puddle Jumper Pale Ale.  Both were good, with strong hop aromas and flavors.  Of course the Hoptree was much more aggressively hopped, at 80 IBUs.  Still, the Puddle Jumper had a good deal of hop bitterness […]

It’s Friday and We’re In Love…. with Arvada Beer Company

Today was full of surprises.  We started the night with a BBQ class we took because of a great Groupon offer.  The class at Ruff’s Barbecue Shoppe was great.  Not only did we learn a lot, but after the class we got to grub on a seriously amazing barbecue dinner!  We really hadn’t planned on a full dinner being included with our class, so at 7pm when we were finished, we were ready for some […]

Spontaneous Brewery Crawl Stop 3: Strange Brewing Company

The third and final stop on our Spontaneous Saturday Pub Crawl was to Strange Brewing Company in Denver.   After our first two stops, we used the same logic to find brewery number three – what is nearby?   We were so happy to see that Strange Brewing was close, since we’ve been wanting to visit for a while.  We’ve had Strange Brewing beers at a few local beer festivals and seen their taps showing up at more […]

Spontaneous Brewery Crawl Stop 2: Wits End Brewing

Our first stop on our spontaneous Saturday brewery-crawl was Del Norte Brewing.  To decide where our next stop would be, we just looked at the next closest brewery that we had never visited before.  We drove around a while before I could get my iPhone to cooperate with our search, but luckily we wandered right towards Wits End Brewing Company.  We have heard a lot about Wits End Brewing, most recently on American Craft Beer Radio, but […]

Spontaneous Brewery Crawl Stop 1: Del Norte Brewing

Update: Del Norte closed their brewery in December 2012. It was a shocker, as they seemed to be doing well and were pretty widely distributed around Colorado. We’ll miss our Cincos and Mañanas, but we’ll always have our memories.  Adios amigos. This weekend we came to a realization.  If we’re going to accomplish our goal of visiting all the breweries in Colorado in a year, we really need to get moving.  One stop a weekend isn’t going […]
